Cute!The good oldy undercover royalty love story.
And that's where my main problem lies actually. While I do love it. I felt there wasn't much else to it. I mean, I love the character building. It's well done. Both MC's have insecurities due to their background that were conveyed wonderfully. The romance has some nice swoony moments.
But this doesn't stay from the secret royalty thread- at all. And the end felt kinda rushed and a bit overly easy solved.
While there were really cute moments, I felt some of the eluded connection wasn't there for me.
Well written, cute story but I wanted somehow more depth.
As a photographer I really enjoyed Amber's photography session. I could totally relate. Which is a testament to Hantz wonderful writing style!
Enjoyable, sweet and interesting characters make this a nice cute & fluffy.

Oh how I wanted to love this book! When I read the synopsis I was sure I would love it.
You have a secret, European prince who goes to an American boarding school with the purpose of having a little freedom. A prince who has manners down pat but American vernacular--not so much.
Match that with a sweet American girl who is overcoming some horrific personal issues from the past year and what more could you want from this story?
Well, sadly, I could have done with something a little less trite. The thing is, because this is the kind of story that has been done before (even though it's an intriguing plot line) it needs to be original and be able to stand up against all the others.
There was the constant, pretty ridiculous, misunderstandings between the two main characters. And the fact that the characters all seemed to have the mentality of nine-year-olds. For me, the main issue with the two protagonists was that, if I didn't know it was a story about how Nik and Amber come to be "Nik and Amber", I honestly wouldn't have ever thought these two should be together. There was no depth to these characters besides their histories. Which, unfortunately, were things we didn't get to see, but were only told about.
I absolutely hate having to write reviews like this. And because of that, I will definitely give Hantz another chance. I refuse to believe that an author who others love, won't have a story that I can appreciate also.
I read the book's summary and found it interesting. What pushed me more was that this was a Crush book and even though they can be plain, they are still great stories. I agree with one reviewer that said that the characters were two dimensional. There was not much depth added to the character and it was more like an instant love thing that felt force. I could not get into the story. I could not even finish it. It just made me mad. For instance,i get that Nik is a prince and he obviously has different mannerisms but it also has to do with culture. However, these character kept staying that he should keep getting that stick up his butt out and Nik went with it. He tried to change his culture to please everyone around. I mean, i do not mind the different perspectives offered but my problem is how does this keep getting blamed on Nik? It is also the big climax moment when things go wrong. Even though it was the Amber's fault, everyone was like "Nik you should beg her to forgive you and blah blah blah." um no. Amber should not be acting like a victim and that she is innocent from this. I felt like she should have been the character to go out of her way and redeem herself to Nik and not other way around. Please do yourself a favor and not read this. There are better books out there
It's an amazing book. I've already read twice now and still can't wait to get to the end. It's amazingly perfect.
This one just did not do it for me. I found myself skimming a lot. No real build up in the story and characters.
This book sounded cute from the synopsis, but the book actually left a lot to be desired in terms of content. Every single character is completely two-dimensional, without a single personality trait to be seen. The romance is instant and non-sensical, so much so that I believe the male romantic interest only likes the female protagonist because she had cancer. This book should really focus on the female protag's history of illness or her history of failed relationships, since that's what everyone spends most of their time dwelling on. All in all, boring characters with no livelihood makes for an awful read.
In my opinion we never got to personally know the characters. The author gives us overview and tells us what they feel, but she doesn't succeed in showing us with words. The story seemed rushed and very Hallmark original movie with the same old secret identity formula. It didn't make me happy or feel a connection with the characters.
This book too me a very long time to read. I think I lost interest after chapter four and the rest of the way I was just wondering if something might pull me back.
Don't get me wrong, the material is well written and the plot was neat and tidy. It was just missing that spark of witty banter and swoon worthy romance.
There's Something About Nik by Sara Hantz......This was a cute fun story. It hits all the emotion buttons and keeps you flipping pages. Nik is a hot Prince that wants to be a normal teenage boy. He meets Amber and she is so different from the girls he sees and attracted to. I enjoyed this sweet story unfolding on the pages. If you want a fun sweet quick read this is the book for you. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
